3D Printed Art by Tony Baker
Sunlight streams through the studio window, illuminating a symphony of whirring belts and the low hum of a cooling fan. Here, amidst the whirring machines, reigns Tony, a 3D artist whose canvas is the very blueprint of reality. His tools are not chisels and clay, but lines of code and spools of molten plastic. With the alchemy of 3D printing, Tony transforms the ethereal into the tangible, breathing life into the dreams birthed in his digital mind.
But the true magic unfolds when he clicks "print." The 3D printer, a stoic giant in the corner, rumbles to life with a mechanical sigh. A ribbon of molten plastic, obedient to Tony's digital commands, unfurls, layer upon layer building his vision into existence. The air thickens with the scent of creation, each whirring click a brushstroke in the symphony of his art.
Slowly, the world he conjured takes form. A magnificent dragon with wings that catch the sunlight emerges from its plastic cocoon. A sleek, minimalist vase with curves that defy logic rises from the printer bed. A series of interlocking puzzle pieces, each a tessellation of his imagination, challenges minds and ignites wonder.
Tony, the sculptor of plastic, imbues his creations not just with form, but with purpose. A solar-powered lamp, its design a testament to sustainable beauty, bathes a forgotten corner in warm light. A series of intricate dragons, each with a unique personality, sparks joy and ignites curiosity in the minds of children.
But Tony's art is more than just plastic and code. It's a bridge between the digital and the physical, a testament to the boundless potential of the human spirit. It's a whisper of the future, where technology and artistry dance hand in hand, birthing beauty into the world one layer at a time.
So, the next time you hold a 3D-printed object, remember the artist behind it, the one who dared to dream in plastic, the one who sculpts not just form, but the very fabric of our reality. Remember Tony, the artist, and the magic he weaves from lines of code and molten dreams.
Draining Creativity
AI's ability to generate art, text, and music with minimal human input raises ethical concerns about the nature of creativity. The concern is that AI-powered tools could flood the market with derivative works, making it harder for original human creations to stand out. Critics fear this could discourage artists, reduce the value of creative work, and lead to a homogenization of culture as AI algorithms churn out content that caters to the lowest common denominator of taste. The worry is that if AI can replicate creative processes, it might take away the unique spark we associate with human innovation.
This piece is my representation of that happening.
Reassemble
When all is lost and you have completely fallen apart the only way forward is to start putting yourself back together.
Nature made a Mistake
In elvish the quote says
“Nature made a mistake so I changed it”
This piece represents the rebirth of those that have chosen to identify as they feel.
Mask of Skin
This piece is a full sized human skull 3d printed with a mask done in a variety of shades of human skin.
This piece represents how we are all the same but just wearing different masks that hide our similarities.
This piece won First Place in the National Arts Program show at Hartford Artspace in March of 2024.
